Reeds Lake Run

6.2 Miles - 49:02 - 7:55 Pace

Not so good today, I was undertrained and over confident. This long gap in training I had hoped would give me some rest, but it just left me, well, undertrained. Started out at a decent pace, 7 minute miles. Around mile 3 I started to feel it, after mile 4, I got a shart knife like pain in my upper ribs....and had to walk. Started running again, and had to walk around mile 5.

Another humbling lesson taught by my body..and the Reeds Lake hills. I told my sister that the next race, the Detroit 10K race, I would medal...so the pressure is on.

Reeds Lake 10K

6.2 Miles - 41:42

The Reeds Lake 10K, another great race on this years tour. The weather was a bit questionable, it was very humid first thing in the morning. But other than that it was a beautiful day. And we had about 8 runners in our group, so that made it much more enjoyable this year.

I felt a bit stale in the morning, I thought it was from not running for 3 days. Once the race got going though, I felt much better. I went out a little fast which hurt me in the end, but with this new watch, I found myself checking my pace more often, instead of just running at a pace I felt good at. The hills on the course got to me, I think partially because I went out too fast, but maybe I haven't been hitting the hills hard enough either.

Bottom line, I shaved about 6 minutes off last years time, and exactly 3 minutes off my best 10K time earlier this year at Saugatuck. So I know the training is still working, I just have to stick with it. I ran under my goal of 42 minutes and 6:45 miles. All in all I was pretty happy with this race. Now it's off to the Cherry festival 15K in a few weeks.

Reeds Lake

4.35 Miles - 39:30

Ran around Reeds Lake today, slowly. It was a nice run, good scenery, houses, the lake, lots of people. It was also a nice change from going around the block at my place. I think I definatly will run this again when I get to the 8 mile point. I felt pretty good though, my legs were not tired, didn't have any pains in my knees or calves. Just a little stiffness/soreness in my ankles.

Reeds Lake 10K

The Reeds Lake 10K, my first race of the year, and my first 10k. My goal was to run it under 50 minutes so I did accomplish that, I ran a 47:12. The weather was great, I even ran past Little Phil's band playing on the side of the road. I did wake up Sunday morning with a strange ache right around my right kidney, not sure what that is all about. I also got passed on the last third of a mile by a guys about twice my age.......
